GMI09/107: Casa da Escola

A large traditional house of historical importance to the village, now in need of thorough restoration.
The main part of the building used to house the local girls’ school, closed in approx. 1945, and the doctor’s surgery. To the side of the main property was the Casa do Povo (meeting room) until the 1970’s.
The main property is 3 storeys high, with store rooms on the ground floor. This building has wood ceilings, floors, and shutters throughout, and 2 balconies to the front of the property that look out over the village of Ponte de Sótão to the surrounding hills.
