The shop is located in a small village and is directly across the road from a very popular beach in South East Cornwall. The beach has level access, and car parking directly next to it.
The business is ideally suited to a semi-retired couple looking for a life-style change and a chance to run a seasonal business in a beautiful location. The shop currently trades in the summer season only from early April until the end of October serving both holidaymakers and the local community, and is the only one in the village. Although small, stocks include a wide range of items: Newspapers and magazines; beer, wine and spirits; cigarettes and tobacco; and a range of essential groceries and provisions. Externally the forecourt area has two benches for customer use, and the area is used to display beach goods at the height of the summer. A banner sign is also used in the summer to draw attention to the shop across the entire area. When times are quiet the owners sit outside to enjoy the sun, and the stunning view.
The shop is currently run by a husband and wife team without any other assistance. There are plenty of local students who would be available for part time work if the purchasers wanted extra help.
The shop is open 7 days a week in the season. Trading hours are 8am to 5.30pm daily with the following exceptions. On Sunday the shop opens at 9am rather than 8am. On Wednesday the owners display opening hours of 8am to 1pm, and will close in inclement weather, but otherwise remain open.
The shop has its own website, Google Places entry and Facebook page. The website comes complete with an online shop, picture gallery and webcam. The webcam is aimed at the beach and is online during opening hours.
2011 annual figures show a turnover of £105,000 with a GP of £36,000. Current rent is £7900 per annum.
