Welcome to Hafod Grove the ideal place for a get together for New Year. With Open Fires, Aga, 2 acres of gardens and walk to the sea at Beautiful Ceibwr Bay.
Prices: New Year Friday - Tuesday £2,950 for 18 guests or £2550 for 12. Long Weekends Nov - March outside of school hols £775 for 12 and £975 for 18. Please contact for other prices.
Hafod Grove is a delightfully spacious, self-catering Mansion House (sleeps 12 - 18) and the garden cottage next door; Hafod Villa (sleeps 6) Enjoying sea views and with an idyllic setting of over two acres of private grounds; Hafod Grove House sleeps 12 (18 when combined with dog friendly Hafod Villa). Both properties have large, entirely separate, private gardens, separate access drives and parking yet can be combined by opening a 6’ high gate.
Hafod Grove is located in what is considered to be the most delightful part of the Pembrokeshire National Park. Within walking distance of the sea at charming, Ceibwr Bay our local beauty spot (which becomes a nursery for seal pups in autumn) and the famous coastal path with its dramatic cliff top views and stunning rock formations. From Ceibwr there are frequent sightings of dolphins, seals, porpoises and basking sharks, and even whales and turtles at times. This part of the coastline boasts the most wonderful scenery of the county.
Within 3 miles are two fabulous sandy beaches with rock pools, caves and vast expanses of sand with safe bathing and easy vehicular access.
The house is equidistant (under 5 miles) from the bustling market town of Cardigan with its castle, shops, theatre, gallery bars and restaurants, and the quaint village of Newport with its boat club, and golf club both open to visitors (have lunch with a fabulous view across Newport bay from the golf club), art galleries, pubs and cafes. In between there are many delightful country and coastal pubs and restaurants to enjoy. Walk, bike or drive into to picturesque Nevern just a couple of miles away and pop into the churchyard and see the bleeding yew and Celtic cross and then have a good pub lunch in the Trewern arms. For the adventurous there are numerous sports and activities locally such as walking and cycling locally and along the beautiful gwaun valley (stop at bessies famous pub for a jug of beer) or horse riding, mountain biking or walking over the preseli’s, walk part of the coastal path from Ceibwr to Newport totally gorgeous or go for a beach ride on Newport sands. For the more adventurous there are activity centres for diving, Coasteering rock climbing, wind surfing, hang gliding etc.
For the children how about own a pony day at Yet Wen riding stables (book early) at Brynberian half a mile up the hill you can visit Pentre Ifan the pre-historic burial chamber. There are several local castles to explore including cardigan and Cilgerran both with visitor’s centres and cafes, st. Dogmaels priory with its watermill, duck pond and cafe selling homemade produce, its new visitors centre and outdoor theatre in summer, Castell Henllys the iron age fort ‘as seen on tv’, the shire horse farm and cardigan island farm, the mwldan theatre at Cardigan with its’ live shows, gallery, cinema and cafe. A more commercial fun day out can be had about 45mins away with a visit to Oakwood theme park or for younger children: folly farm. How about a day trip to Ireland from nearby Fishguard harbour and sea aquarium and busy little town quite a favourite with artists.

With frequent Sightings of pair of rare red kite flying over the grounds of the house and the numbers and variety of birds in the area especially along the coastline and at the estuaries of the rivers Nevern and Teifi Hafod Grove is a twitchers delight! The abundance of wildlife both flora and fauna makes this location a delight for nature-lovers, artists, and the highly stressed! There is excellent trout and salmon fishing to be had further up the Teifi at Cenarth. You can also hire canoes and kayaks at kilgerran.. In autumn our local beauty spot; Ceibwr bay becomes a nursery for seal pups and you would be very unlucky not to see these delightful animals from the cliffs – best not to get too near because mum may not like it though! The rock formations at Ceibwr are stunning and it is considered a real beauty spot.
With excellent access to the three counties of Cardiganshire, Camarthanshire and Pembrokeshire; Hafod Grove makes an ideal touring base as well as a delightful family holiday location and is also a favourite with walkers, reunions and group celebrations throughout the year.
Hafod Grove House:
The spacious and comfortable accommodation includes:
A large, well equipped, farmhouse kitchen, with seating for 12 (18 people if a table is added from next door) + an aga, as well as a conventional cooker, dishwasher, microwave etc. There is good internet access in this kitchen.
The arched hallway leads to two delightful reception rooms both comfortably furnished for up to 18 people and both enjoy lovely double aspect, private, garden views and open fires.
Reception 2 has french doors leading to a suntrap patio which is ideal for dining alfresco and barbeques.
Bedroom 1: downstairs double bedroom with antique suite and TV.
Opposite is a shower room making it ideal for the elderly or semi-disabled.
There are two stair cases, but the low rise main staircase leads up to the:
first floor and:
Bedroom 2: master bedroom with sea views.
En suite bathroom with double-ended, antique bath, power shower, wash hand basin and lavatory, this room has dual access into the hall so can be shared.
Bedroom 3. A King size bedroom with sea views and vanity basin.
Bedroom 4. A twin bedroom with a decoupage suite and vanity basin and pretty garden views.
Bedroom 5. A twin bedroom with art deco twin bedroom suite and pretty garden views.
Bedroom 6. At the top of the servant’s stairs, the only small room in the house is a pretty bunk bedroom ideal for children, over-looking woodland
Large family bathroom with power shower, 6’ victorian bath, wash hand basin and lavatory.
Outside is over an acre of private grounds, separate access drive and parking for up to cars this can be combined with Hafod Villa by opening a 6’high gate if you are a much larger group.
Hafod Villa,
Entrance is via the long wide conservatory ideal as an ideal place to sit quietly and read or take lunch. Great for wellie, dog basket and bucket and spades storage!
The sunny sitting room has Sky + and HD TV, a log burner and a seating for six guests.
The large bright kitchen / dining room is well equipped for 6 people including a dishwasher, microwave, gas hob, electric oven and fridge; the washing machine and freezer is in a little utility room at the end of the dining room.
There is a downstairs twin bedded room which has the best internet connection as the walls are so thick that other rooms have difficulty picking up a signal.
Upstairs is a twin bedded room with pretty garden views and built in wardrobe.
The bathroom has a restricted height electric shower over the bath (not ideal but then this is a very old cottage, a wash basin toilet and mirror etc.
The Double bedroom has a four poster bed and similar garden views to the twin bedroom next door.
Hafod Villa has its own access drive and parking for up to 3 cars and huge private garden separated from next door by a 6’ high fence. This means Hafod Villa enjoys a private and sunny location and up to 3 well behaved dogs are allowed to stay.
Cots and high-chairs available on request for both Houses.
The property stands in almost 2 acres of delightful, private grounds with gorgeous countryside and sea views, there are children’s swings, and a suntrap patio barbeque area etc.
The properties can be rented together or separately as they both enjoy privacy from one another but can easily be combined.
