Castlerock is located on the North coast and is a quiet seaside resort with a lovely beach, the perfect place for a relaxing break, activities include walking, fishing, boating, surfing or golfing. The golf club is opposite the apartment as are the shops and other amenities. There are many interesting places to explore in and around Castlerock. Downhill Castle is the ruin of a palace built around 1780 by the Earl bishop of Derry, Frederick Hervey. Close by on the edge of the cliff more than 100ft above the sea is the Mussenden Temple, it was modelled on the Temple of Vesta at Tivoli. Each year its the venue for a midsummer evening Concert and is also available for wedding cermonies. Castlerock is also on the Causeway Coastal route which passes through the levely seaside towns of Portstewart, Portrish and Portballintrae. Other popular attractions include the world famous Giants Causeway and Carrick a rede rope bridge. Other local attractions are the Northwest 200 which takes place each year in May and is a 5 - 10min drive away to spectate in the Coleraine - Portstewart area, Castlerock is alos situated on the main train link and has a station which provides a link to londonderry city centre and also the larger and main city of Belfast which provide a great shopping day out.
