Whitby is probably best known for being where Bram Stoker set and wrote the novel Dracula, it is also well known for being the starting port for Captain Cooks voyage to Australia. Other attractions in Whitby include the ruined Abbey overlooking the sea with its 199 steps leading up to it and its ghost walks. Steam trains also run from Whitby station to Pickering, Grosmont and Goathland (Where the Heartbeat series was filmed.)
