The cottage is a recently refurbished converted milking barn in the quiet north western corner of the Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales. It is in a rural off-road location about a mile from Myddfai Village, on the owners property, surrounded by farmland with lovely views of the mountains. It is three miles to the market town of Llandovery - which has a railway station, pubs, shops, restaurants, and swimming pool. See www.myddfai.com for more village information. The village was featured in a recent SOS Village TV programme with Sarah Beeny. It is a pleasant 20 minute stroll the village hall with cafe and craft shop. Approx 1 hour 20 mins drive from Cardiff, so perfect for a weekend break.
The cottage comprises fully equipped kitchen (inc. dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, fridge freezer) and main room with wood stove, HD freesat TV and blu-ray/dvd player, and music system for CD/ipod. There are two bedrooms - one king size, and one with twin beds (or zip-link to make superking double, so ideal for two couples) There is also space for a temporary bed or cot in the twin room. Bathroom with shower and bath. French doors lead to patio and picnic table in private garden at rear. BBQ.
The garden is not currently enclosed, but we are planning to erect a fence as there is a nearby stream and pond, so not ideal for toddlers yet. A public footpath at the rear of the barn gives direct access to Myddfai Mountain and other local walks.
Many local attractions including Dan-yr-Ogof Caves, National Botanic Gardens, Aberglasney Gardens, Newton House (National Trust) and an hour to the lovely Ceredigion Coast. Also close to shopping and cinemas in Carmarthen and Brecon. Great for walkers and bird watchers.
Available for 3 to 7 day stays starting on a Friday. Available from 3.00PM; vacate by 11.00AM. (there could be some flexibility if the Friday start does not suit). £200 to £420. Price includes (under floor) heating, electricity, firewood, all bed linen and towels. Ample parking, and bike storage. The property has just been finished, am awaiting grading by 'Visit Wales' and website.
