Cottage overlooking Sierra Nevada mountains, 10 mins from Alhambra, 25 mins. from Sierra Nevada Ski Resort

Cortijo la Mata is a traditional Andalusian farmhouse constructed in the year 1911 which has been converted into three holiday accomodation units. Situated in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountain range yet only ten minutes by car from the Alhambra Palace and the city of Granada the house is located just outside the old moorish village of Monachil in an area of outstanding natural beauty surrounded by olive, almond and cherry trees.

For those who are looking for a complete escape to the Andalusian countryside yet want to take advantage of all that the city of Granada has to offer plus take in the ski slopes of Spain's highest mountain range the location is perfect.

The villa is well equipped and each unit is provided with fresh bedlinen (duvets in winter), hand and bath towels, clean crockery & tableware, a large fridge/freezer, electric or gas cooker, dishwasher, microwave, drying and ironing facilities, small selection of books in several languages, a fully functional chimney and satellite TV (dual satellite system providing channels in all major european languages including free to air channels such as the BBC).

We are also happy to announce that as of September 2008 we have Wi-Fi Internet access available throughout the property. During those colder winter months the property is heated by means of an oil fired central heating system.

For families with babies and toddlers we supply cots and high chairs.

Outside facilities include a well maintained swimming pool, barbecues, fully furnished patios and terraces with spectacular views across the Monachil valley, gardens, and private parking. The property is situated in it's own private mountainside with paths leading up to the surrounding hills and valleys.

All set within an enclosed plot of slightly more than 1,500 square metres.

Please note that the swimming pool is only open during the summer months of June through until end of September.

Sierra Nevada ski station is only 25 minutes away with the added advantage that there is a separate road from the village to the resort hence avoiding much of the Granada city traffic.

Apart from the obvious atractions of the city of Granada, Monachil and the Sierra Nevada ski station there are many other activities a bit further afield.

Granada is well know in Spain for the possibility of skiing in the morning and sunbathing in the afternoon. Beach resorts such as Salobreña and Almuñecar can be reached in 45 minutes by car from the village.

Plenty of tourist information is available at the property.

Prices are independent of season and are valid all year round. Please note that should the entire property be required there is a minimum occupancy of 10 persons during July/August, Christmas, New Year and Easter. For weekly stays changeover day is Saturday although this can be flexible outwith the Summer months.

Babies and toddlers using a cot and a high chair free of charge.

From mountain biking, rock climbing and handgliding to flamenco lessons, goats cheese demos and cookery courses we can organize almost anything!Apart from the beautiful Monachil area itself the main attraction is without doubt Granada - the city of the Alhambra, Albayzin and the gypsy caves of Sacromonte - all within 15 minutes easy drive.
